The Leavitt Family are one of the most amazing families I have ever met! I grew up around the corner from them and have always admired how much fun they have together. They have the CUTEST grandkids and it was so fun to spend the afternoon with them.

PROJECT LIFE 2013 CT WEEK 10

Welcome to week 10! I was so excited to incorporate a bit of the MIDNIGHT edition to this week. I still used my Seafoam edition just added a few new colors. I LOVE how well they go together. I chose to go with B&W photos for this one as most of the pics were pretty busy and I love how simple it looks this way. When you have littles around they often tend to copy the things you say and I have been noticing this a lot lately. Porter started saying, “In this house we…don’t say that, eat our veggies, etc.” and I know I say that a lot so I decided to make a little card to insert into my PL layout.
This week I only added a few chipboard letters, one strip of washi tape and a button. I am loving the cards just as they are. SO CUTE!!

PROJECT LIFE 2013 CT WEEK 9

Here is my week 9 layout and it is a very SIMPLE layout. I again had a hard time trying to cut down the photos for this week so I just used them all. I am still using the Seafoam Edition and this layout was my quickest one yet. I only added a piece of lace with the flowers, a few chipboard letters and made a tiny banner for the journalling card. I love the simplicity of Project Life.

Someone asked me the other day why I don’t journal very much and I realized I have never added that often I will journal more and include it after the layout has been posted. I tuck them in behind photos, write on blank cards in the layout and I also have other pages that I do not post. I love sharing ideas and getting ideas from others but there are still parts of my life that I want to keep private. Nothing crazy- just small things that are personal to me. I appreciate all of your kind comments and love hearing your PL tips and stories so thank you for sharing. It is so fun to find new blogs to check out, especially those with Project Life inspiration!

I love to bake, I love to cook and I love spending time with my boys! I have so many recipe books in my cupboard but a few of my favourites are …

I am always adding notes in the margins of my recipe books and updating them as I find tips and tricks that make the recipes even better. Growing up I enjoyed looking through my Mom’s recipe box and seeing her handwriting and my Grandma’s handwriting on the cards. Something about it just reminded me so much of them and fun times we had baking together.

When I saw Becky Higgin’s mini albums I knew I wanted to make a recipe book with all my favourite recipes and a few pics of food and family! How awesome is it that the Project Life cards can be typed, handwritten or both!

I love how darling the olive edition cards look and have wanted to use them for a while! Having 2 boys I tend to make my family project life a bit less feminine but I figured I can make my recipe book as pink and flowery as I want!! These albums are on sale until APRIL 5th, 2013! They are darling and I am so excited to use them for birthdays, trips and so much more!!

PROJECT LIFE 2013 CT WEEK 8

Week 8 was exciting as it was Grayden’s third birthday! Usually I LOVE decorating for birthdays and go all out with banners, hanging streamers, balloons and a fun party theme. However, this year we are simplifying our lives. Since we had company we decided to spend the Saturday sledding in Waterton and roast hotdogs and marshmallows as those are Gray’s fave foods right now and we never have them!! I used those pics for last weeks layout and since his birthday was on the Sunday I decided to write about his birthday the next week. We opened presents when we got home from Church on his actual birthday. He was so excited to get a new bike and couldn’t wait to ride it around! Then we got packed up and headed down to the lake for the next few days to continue the birthday celebrations as Tom had time off school. I included a yearly questionnaire of things about Gray. His answers are written word for word and still make me smile! I asked him what his favorite thing about him was and he replied, “because I’m awesome!!” I also included an 8X10 insert with pictures of him. My first thought was to have a large photo on each side but I couldnt’ choose just one so he got all 3! The photo above shows the 8X10 on top of the right side of the layout.

Here is the full layout with the 8X10 flipped over to the other side. This is one of my favorite pics of Gray taken in the fall. For the winter vacation card, I used one from the digital files of Sea foam and typed my journalling in a text box on top of the card. I love how it matches the rest of the cards but is just a little bit different! It would also work to type your journalling on the card, round the corners and adhere it onto the seafoam card to achieve the same look.

PROJECT LIFE 2013 CT WEEK 7

Here are my week 7 layouts. I have noticed lately that I take an outrageous amount of photos. Between my camera and my iphone I snap a lot of pics! Thank heavens I do my instagram collages so I don’t have to worry about editing and incorporating those too! I load my photos from my 5d as often as I can and sort through for the first time just to remove the for sure NOs. Usually each month I edit only the very best shots or the shots that mean something to me out of what is left and leave the rest in an unedited file stored on my external hard drive. That way I don’t feel like I am deleting moments in case I want them later and no- I am not a photo hoarder, just sentimental right

This month I was sifting through photos trying to decide which ones made the cut for the PL album when I came to our day trip to Waterton for Gray’s birthday. There were over a hundred photos and I loved almost all of them! ok- well a lot of them! I chose a few and started on the layout. I found myself constantly swapping photos for other ones and the whole layout looked way to busy. So I added an insert. This allowed me to add the rest of my FAVORITE photos from the day and not feel bad about the ones that didn’t make the cut!

I have been wanting to do an all black and white layout for a while and thought these were the perfect photos to do it with. There were so many that the simplicity of the 2 colors calmed it down a bit. Here is the other side of the insert and the right side page. I also used both sides of the recorded and stripe cards. This saved me two journaling cards and I loved both sides so I was thrilled not to have to choose between the two!

The only thing I added to the cards were sticker letters and washi tape! I love how simple and easy Project Life can be!! I know I need to be a bit more picky in choosing my photos or my pages are going to take up 3 albums!! I would love to know how you choose which photos you use and which ones don’t make the cut.
