Project Life 2013 CT week 1

Project Life by Becky Higgins changed my life. It changed the way I keep our memories and the way I take pictures.

I was lucky enough to purchase one of her Project 365 kits the first year they came out. I have loved taking pictures and scrapbooking since I was a teenager and was excited to try her method. When I started Project Life I had a lot of cute posed pictures and smiles straight into the camera. As I put the photos in the page protectors with the journalling cards I knew I needed a change. The stories weren’t being told by the photos. It was missing emotion and didn’t bring me back to the moment I was trying to capture. I started looking for the tiny pieces of our life that I didn’t want to forget. Taking more candid shots of a moment, often without the subject even knowing. I tried to find shots of my life that might not mean much to others but were priceless to me. It also helped me  overcome my fear of being embarrassed to be a paparazzi mom and I just owned it! I lugged my huge camera into the health unit to get a picture of my babies shots and didn’t care what anyone else thought. My Iphone has definitely helped out in that department and makes my bag a lot lighter:) My baby is turning six this year and I am so grateful that I had a great way and encouragement to record my everyday thoughts and how my life was then. I can’t believe how much it has changed and those books are priceless to me. Thank you Becky!

If you have questions about what Project Life is and how you can get started check out Becky’s website. She has video tutorials and all of the info you’ll need. I highly recommend it to everyone

I was thrilled when I was made a part of her 2013 Creative Team and I am having a blast working on my layouts for this year. I will be using the Project Life Core Kit : Seafoam Edition, The Project Life Childhood Mini Kit, and the Photo Pocket Pages Big Variety Pack 1 to start. After all the new Core Kit releases I may add another kit too!

I am hoping to use the weekly format but I do tend to take ALOT of photos of an occasion so there may be layouts like this one where the photos are all from one -two days that week. That is another reason why I love Project Life so much! I can do whatever works best for me!! I am excited to share my layouts with you and hope you like them.

ashley - Hi Jamie,
I used a clipping mask in photoshop. I would be happy to post a tutorial if you would like one. It’s super simple and I use it ALL the time! I guess you could cut the letters out of a card using a silhouette or cricut machine and place the card over top of the photo too if you don’t work with photoshop.

Valerie - Yes, please share how you did the Hawaii lettering. Love it!

Jamie - I love the clean look of all your photos. I especially like how you did the Hawaii 4×6. Did you already have a precut card that had Hawaii on it and place it in front of a photo? Or did you use an overlay type thing in photoshop on top of the photo?
